The people who make Nickelodeon’s shows aren’t just employees, they’re also citizens who value their communities and aim to enrich the lives of kids and their families. That’s why we created Nickelodeon Community Efforts, a.k.a. NiCE.
Through a wide variety of projects focused on promoting Arts Education Advocacy and civic engagement, we facilitate mentorships, classroom visits from our artists and writers, and many ways to donate our equipment, talent, and time. NiCE strives to make meaningful contributions to our community while also providing our employees real opportunities to give back in ways that are impacting and transformative.
We hope your Spooky Szn was delightful and full of good frights! As always, we are thrilled to share the goodness that our fellow Nickelodeons have helped spread in the community. Please enjoy our October recap, aka a Slice of NiCE.
Nickelodeon Community Efforts partners with area non-profits on a myriad of causes that affect children and their families. Whether it’s supporting mental health initiatives, helping to bridge the digital divide, working to combat homelessness, or partnering with after-school programs, Nickelodeon Community Efforts strives to improve the lives of members of our community. We also have found ways to get our gently-used technology into the hands of creators, educators, and performing arts programs across the region.
The Best Field Trip Ever program is a half-day immersive program that is comprised of a VIP behind-the-scenes studio tour, a 2-hour creativity workshop, and lunch in the courtyard. We also present Master classes on the Nickelodeon Twitch TV channel that are taught by seasoned Nickelodeon veterans and address the key phases in the Animation process.
Nickelodeon Community Efforts partners with high schools across on a series of Animation Skills Mentorship Programs where employees work with aspiring storytellers to guide them through the creation of their own animated shorts. Many of the films created during the mentorship program have gone on to garner local, regional and national honors.
Nick employees visit classrooms, draw with kids in hospitals, and hop on Zoom calls to share their universal love of drawing and build creative confidence in children. We have also recently started a Spanish language version of Let’s Draw! called ¡Vamos A Dibujar!
Our Spring 2019 NICKterns headed down to Burbank High School to partner with local high school student Ana Cristina Varela to bring her vision of a mural to life. Ana is a star BHS animation student and a product of our animation mentorship program.
